Barnabas Collins is a mysterious stranger that shows up one night at the doorstep of tCollinwood. He bears a strikingHe introduces himself as a distant cousin, and it's easy to see that he's a member of the familly due to his striking resemblnce to a painting in the foyer of an acenstor, the "original" Barnabas Collins. Little do they know, the stranger is the actual Barnabas Collins, nearly 200 years old now and recently set free from his grave.
One by one, the people of Collins Port will find out the evil truth about Barnabas Collins, and despite the horrendous crimes he commits, viewers find a sympathetic character: one who is banished to the night and can never find his true love.
Elizabeth Stoddard
The matriarch of the Collins family, Elizabeth Collins-Stoddard is a strong, smart woman who has maintained the family fortunne and brought prosperity to the family companies. Despite her strong exterior, she hides a weakness and a secret that has kept her as a strange recluse in her own house for over 18 years.
Roger Collins
Where his sister Elizabeth used her inheritance and power wisely, brother Roger Collins quickly squandered it. He lives in Collinwood with his sister for lack of anywhere else to go. Carefree, Roger continues to live it up and squander any additional money he can get his hands on. He holds some dark secrets of his own, and they involve a terrible night when a man was murdered.
Victoria Winters
Victoria is an orphan, now in her late teens or early twenties, who received a strange invitation from a far-away place that she'd never been to called Collins Port. The invitation is to be a governess to a boy named David Collins, the nephew of Elizabeth Stoddard and son of Roger Collins. It's very strange that Elizabeth Stoddard should heavily insist on this particular young lady.
Victoria plays another function... as a conduit to a past love interest of Barnabas Collins.
Carolyn Stoddard
Moody and flighty but full of life, Carolyn is the daughter of Elizabeth Stoddard. Her nickname from Uncle Roger is "kitten" which is more appropriate than he knows, because it's her curiousity that may get her into a lot of trouble.
David Collins
Young, mischevious, and imaginative, people pay very little attention when David speaks of ghosts and secrets. But should they listen a little closer?Sarah>
